Government teachers also receive various allowances, which can significantly increase their monthly in-hand salary. These might include:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA): Linked to inflation and adjusted periodically.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): Depends on the location and type of accommodation.
  • Travel Allowance (TA): Reimbursement for official travel expenses.
  • Medical Allowance: Covers health insurance and medical expenses.
  • Seniority: Salaries increase with years of experience and promotions.
  • Qualifications: Additional degrees or certifications can lead to higher salary scales.
  • School Location: Salaries might be slightly higher in remote or challenging locations.

The OSSTET certificate is valid until the candidate reaches the upper age limit prescribed for the recruitment of teachers in Odisha. This means that there is no fixed expiration date for the certificate; it remains valid as long as the candidate is eligible to apply for teaching jobs in the state.

There are no restrictions on the number of attempts you can take for the OSSTET exam! This means you can keep trying until you achieve the passing score and earn your eligibility certificate.

Yes, OSSTET is mandatory for applying to the post of TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) schools.

The OSSTET exam is typically held once a year. This is stated in the official guidelines for the exam issued by the Board of Secondary Education
